English illustrator Molly Brett was welcomed into the homes—and hearts—of many through her playful children’s books Studying first through a correspondence course and then at the Guildford School of Art, Brett’s career as a commercial artist took off when she began illustrating books, commissioned to bring Enid Blyton’s stories to life. She went on to write and illustrate over 20 books of her own, but her total works were even more expansive; for the publisher The Medici Society alone, she produced over 500 illustrations for cards, postcards, prints and books. To this day, generations of cozy fantasy lovers delight in Brett’s amiable illustrations of fairies and anthropomorphic animals finding whimsy in their daily lives.
