About the Artist: In 1931, Alexander Calder created his first truly kinetic sculpture and gave form to an entirely new type of art. Dubbed "mobiles" despite their independent ability to undulate with their own air currents, Calder's innovative designs were exhibited around the world such as at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Galerie Louis Carré in Paris. His work continues to inspire countless writers and artists to this day.
About: JF Jones and Modern Mobiles have collaborated to create mobile kits to introduce the works of Alexander Calder to a younger audiences. With unlimited design combinations, these kits explore hands-on learning, connections between science and sculpture, kinetic energy, balance, equilibrium and levers.
