My pots are direct expressions of personal and aesthetic influences. I am continually fascinated with how these elements collaborate to make a beautiful functional object. These sources range from abstract paintings to Eastern calligraphic traditions, historical pottery to contemporary design, landscapes and even poetry. The results of these influences are not literal translations, but instead, intuitive arrangements of decorative elements that vary from object to object. My curiosity is satisfied through the idiosyncrasies of each individual arrangement of form, the visual splendor of color and pattern, and the spontaneity of brushwork.

By adhering to the framework of utility, I am free to study how individual ingredients of the process contribute and complete each object. This in turn allows the aesthetic content of each piece to facilitate its functional nature. I am just as concerned with how a hand might touch the surface, or how a contour nestles in the palm as I am that other sense are equally engaged. For instance, how the eye might trace the intricacies of a decorated surface of how these objects might complement a domestic space. Equally important is that they are used. At the table, in the home, or for any purpose that asserts their role as accessories of service. It is my purpose, that through these fundamental elements, each object might serve the purpose of expression within the context of utility.
